TEXT: LUKE 5-11
MEMORY VERSE: “And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret.”Luke 5:1 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place ”
What you press for determines the pressure you can face in life. We are passing through a time when the earth and its inhabitants are literally under pressure, some financially pressured, others under health pressure. There are some, suffering from family, career, and security pressures. There are also others whose ministries are under pressure. But the good news is that under these conditions, to press for the word of God is to exist in pleasure without pressure. Being witnesses of the power in the word of God and the diverse manifestations of miracles, signs and wonders of the teaching ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, the multitude pushed and crowded Jesus to hear more of the word of God. This therefore, puts a heavy burden on us on the need to raise children and congregation that are hungry for God’s word. Yes! People that possess a hunger that cannot be conquered for God and His word.
In this critical time when people are more in love with their phones, social media, fashion, and frivolities of life, we need to nurture and raise a generation that can talk like the Psalmist, who says, “How sweet are thy word unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Psalm 119:103 KJV). People that practically come running after God’s word, to both hearing and doing it for the guarantee of God’s blessings, because“…blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it”(Luke 11:28 KJV).
It is worthy of note that the people pressed on Jesus to hear the word of God. We are also highly obligated to raise well-trained teachers, willing teachers and the teachers that will be present to attend to the needs of the people. All parents must be committed teachers from their homes. Above all, we need teachers that will teach the practical truth of God’s word, not diluted or heretical teachers.
- Press for God’s word today.
- Teach the word wherever you are.
- Enroll to be trained as a teacher.
- Lord, thank you for giving us your word, baptize me with fresh passion for your word and raise good teachers for us in Jesus Name. Amen.
