TEXT: JOSHUA 3:7-END
MEMORY VERSE: “Instruct the Priests who are carrying the Ark to stop at the edge of the river.” Joshua 3:8 TLB
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
A story was told of a young man who bought an electronic gadget that he needed to couple before using. But he always got it wrong. He failed after several trials. One day, a friend visited and saw how he was struggling with the gadget. He went for the user’s manual and read the instructions, re-coupled it, and alas, he succeeded in putting it right.
Instructions, no matter how simple, are very important for success if we follow the principles laid down. It is important that people respect, obey, and follow given instructions. Refusal to obey or follow instructions lead to failures and multiple problems. Such attitude has never helped anyone.
The Lord gave instructions to those that were carrying the ark. Moses was instructed to strike the rock once and he didn’t follow the instructions. The result wasn’t a good one. There may be shortcuts and different options that may look easier and faster. But despising a constituted authority brings sorrow and regrets.
The construction of the Ark met God’s standard because Noah followed the instructions to minutest detail. If we follow our Divine Instructional Manual – the Holy Bible, and abide in the teachings and instructions it contains, we will meet God’s standard in the way we live our life. The word of God is very important. We need it earnestly.
Let us develop the attitude of paying attention to instructions given to us in the Bible, and obeying them. They will lead us to heaven, the paradise of God.
- Think about resisting the instructions of the Lord and the end result of such behavior.
- Lord, give me the spirit of obedience to your word, in Jesus name.
