TEXT: MARK 6:31-56 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “But Christ had indeed been raised from the dead, the first-fruit of those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Corinthians 15:20 KJV
The miracle of feeding the five thousand with five loaves and two fishes (vs. 41-44), was one of the greatest landmark events in the ministry of Jesus. Furthermore, the proof of this miracle was magnified in the basket of leftovers that were taken up. The leftovers also measured the power of the One who was in the midst of the people. The impact of this miracle led to greater appreciation of Jesus Christ that He was truly the Son of God, who had the power of creation (John 1:1-2, Col. 1:16).
With this miracle, as well as the other two outstanding miracles of walking on the sea and calming the storm in this text (see also Matt. 14:22-31), Jesus set the stage for proving His power over the physical laws of nature.
Elijah worked miracles (1 Kings 17:21-22; 2 Kings 1:10-14), Elisha worked miracles (2 Kings 2:14; 2 Kings 4:42-44); other Old and New Testament prophets too (Acts 3:1-9, Acts 20:7-12), but there is none to match with the great miracles of this passage. The miracles performed by our Lord Jesus are part of the proofs of His deity.

The resurrection power is the greatest of all miracles (Luke 24:1-6), for it broke the power of the grave (1 Cor. 15:55). The resurrection is the basis on which Christianity stands or falls. Jesus is indeed God, The Word, and the Son of God (John 1).
CHALLENGES
- Jesus walked on the sea; He called peter to do likewise, but the later did awhile, but faltered. What do you think was responsible?
PRAYER POINT
- Lord, grant us the grace to grow in faith, that we may excel in ministry as you did. Amen.
