ESOCS Devotional 30 May 2025 – Go and Tell of His Resurrection
MEMORY VERSE: “And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.” Mark 16:6-7
TEXT: MARK 16:1-13
Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him. 2 Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. 3 And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large. 5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.
6 But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. 7 But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”
8 So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
9 Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. 10 She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. 11 And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.
12 After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country. 13 And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.

Beloved in Christ Jesus, apart from living the life of righteousness and holiness and doing good works and worshipping God in truth and in spirit, our major service to the Lord Jesus Christ should be to tell people of the world about His resurrection from the dead.
His resurrection has everything to do with the authenticity of our salvation. It is the proof that what He did on the Cross at Calvary and what He did in hell with His burial have effectively dealt with the issue of our sin. His resurrection is the testimony that He conquered death, which is the wages of our sin (Rom. 6:23). Therefore, His resurrection is the evidence that we are free indeed! We are free from the power of sin, the consequence of sin and the master of sin, which is Satan. The system of sin has no more dominion over those who believe in Him (Rom.6:12-14).
Beloved in Christ Jesus, having received all these blessings from the Lord, what is expected of us? The young man clothed in a long white garment told the women, that Lord Jesus is risen, that He is no longer in the grave; but that they should go and tell the other disciples where to meet with the risen Lord. In like manner, we are expected to go into the world and tell the people of the world about the resurrection of Jesus and the joy in His resurrection, which brought to us glorious salvation from sin and its consequences. Hallelujah! Go and announce it to them.
Lord Jesus Christ called it the Good News – gospel, and charged all that believe to go into all the world and preach this gospel to them, that He is alive forever and His resurrection brought salvation to all. If they receive this Good News and believe in Him, they shall be saved from sin. This is the great commission that we should carry out for the Lord. He called us His witnesses (Acts 1:8). The Apostles with great power gave witness to His resurrection (Acts 4:33). We should do likewise.
CHALLENGES

PRAYER POINT
- Father God, I acknowledge my sin and sinfulness; I thank you for giving Jesus to die for me in order to save me from sin and the consequences.
