TEXT: MATT. 25: 13-28
MEMORY VERSE: “But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master’s money.” Mathew 25:18 (NLT)
To be talented is to be unique, to be creative, to be gifted, to have an inner treasure, etc. It is endless. Just like our Bible reading for today illustrates, some are talented but wasted. What does it mean to be talented but wasted? It is to come to this world without leaving a mark, without fulfilling purpose; to be gifted by God without prosperity to show for it, and to have full salvation without a soul to show for it. Some have wasted their talents on the laps of Delilah (Judges 16:19). There are powers that waste talents. They are:
Lust: This is the fastest weapon of destruction. Abstain from it. (1Peter 2:11)
Pride: This is a serious weapon that waste talent. Remember pride goes before a fall. Be careful.
Laziness: God cannot accomplish His mission with a lazy person who has no focus. Say no to laziness and wake up your hidden talent. (Prov. 12:24, Eccl. 10:18).
Covetousness: Luke 12:15 admonishes a covetous person to understand that his life should not be dependent or attached to materialism.
