MEMORY VERSE: “He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living …” Mark 12:27
TEXT: MARK 12:18-27 (KJV)
18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

The characteristics of God represents a NOW, present personality; He cannot be bottled up in yesterday, nor limited by today, neither can tomorrow stop Him because He is the God of yesterday, today and forever. He is the first and the last, the beginning and end. He is the one who knows the end from the beginning. He is the one who was, who is and is to come. This same God is the I am that I am, the self-existent and self-sufficient God. He is the beginning that began the beginning, the creator that was never created. He was not selected, appointed, nominated nor elected. His birthday is not known because it does not exist. We call Him the Alpha and Omega, the one who lives, and was dead and now is alive forever more, having the keys of hell and death.
What business then, does He have with death? Sure, God is the God of the living, and to exist in Him is to be the child of the Living God. Yes! You are the Child of the Living God. Yes! You. Don’t let any devil rob you of your personality and place in God. To confirm that He is the God of the living, He made the following Provisions for us:
- LONG LIFE: “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation” (Palm 91:16); “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD” (Psalm 118:17); “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). God’s creation plan and mandate is for us to be alive, no wonder His first empowerment for man during creation was the blessing of fruitfulness, multiplication and replenishment with dominion (Gen. 1:28). It only takes a man who is alive to fulfill these Blessings. Thus, proofing God’s original plan for our longevity as He is the God of the Living. Therefore, whatever seeks to deny you of life or force you to the grave is an enemy of God’s personality and should not be allowed to exist. Hence by the Power of the living God, we frustrate every demonic agenda to bring death in your life and that of your family in the Name of Jesus. We declare that you shall not die untimely because your God is the God of the living.
- ETERNAL LIFE: To again confirm that He is the God of the Living, he made provision for our eternity, so that after our sojourn here on earth, we can still be alive with Him in Heaven. “… whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16); “the Lord is not slack concerning his promise…not willing that any should perish…” (2 Peter 3:9). God’s promises are eternal, and they are for us.
- Eternity is the watch word; repent today so that you don’t end in hell fire.
- Father, I receive the grace to live a life of holiness and righteousness in Jesus Name.
