TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 4: 1-18 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour.”1 Thessalonians 4: 4 KJV
Sanctification means to be separated from evil and set apart for the master’s use (2 Chronicles 39: 5, Leviticus 27: 16), and to be purified. God wants every vessel sanctified, for only sanctified vessels can be used by God (1 Thessalonians 4: 3 2 Timothy 2: 21.)
The process of sanctification involves the Trinity: God the Father (I Thessalonians 5: 23 – 24), God the Son (Ephesians 5: 26), and God the Holy Spirit (Titus 3: 5).
Vessels can be sanctified by the Word of God (Jn. 15: 3, 1Timothy 4: 5). It is also obtainable by the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 13: 12, 10: 29), by receiving a new heart, that is, replacing the stony heart (Ezekiel 36: 26) with a heart of flesh to become vessel of honour fit for the Lord’s use.
To be sanctified, purge yourself from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit (2 Timothy 2: 21, 2 Corinthians 7: 11), keep God’s company and be in His presence frequently.

Once sanctified, living a holy life becomes easy. Sin becomes ugly and abominable in your sight and you become a vessel unto honour fit for the Master’s use and prepared unto every good work.
The result of living a holy life is that you become fruitful (Romans 6: 22, Galatians 5: 22 – 23). You will walk in the footsteps of the Master (John 14: 12). You will receive power to do greater works (Hebrews 10: 14); and be called Christ’s representative here on earth; and you will have a guarantee of an inheritance in heaven (Acts 26: 18).
