ESOCS Devotional 3 August 2025 – Teach Them Again
MEMORY VERSE: “And he arose from thence and cometh into the coasts of Judea by the farther side of Jordan; and the people resort unto him again, and as he was wont, he taught them again.” Mark 10:1
TEXT: MARK 10:1–12
Then He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, and as He was accustomed, He taught them again.
2 The Pharisees came and asked Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” testing Him.
3 And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?”
4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.”
5 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
10 In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter. 11 So He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

Learning is a continuous process. No one outgrows learning in life. In fact, the day you stop learning, you start dying. Therefore, the teacher is saddled with the responsibilities of providing teaching services to everyone including the slow learners, never willing learners and forgetful learners. Yes! No matter how much you have taught before, there is a great need to teach them again.
The people on seeing Jesus their teacher throngs around Him again and He proceeded to teach them again. It is possible that it has not been long He finished teaching them. It is possible they understand and were blessed by His teaching, hence, the quest for more. Whatever condition it was that brought them, the important thing is that he taught them again.
Beloved, we must come to the point where we do not relent in our teaching assignment and responsibility. The children in your house, growing up under your roof, teach them again. Yes! Let them call you a talkative, but please don’t stop teaching them. They may claim to have understood and are practising it, continue to remind them. It is constancy of reminder that makes retention.
The flock God has given to you to manage, ensure you don’t stop teaching them. It may look like the topic is repeated, it may also appear that it has already become their lifestyle; we must be determined never to quit the teaching ministry. There are some that are slow learners, some heavily distracted by the cares of life, other never interested to learn anything but we can’t be discouraged by such negative attitude, let us teach them again.
We passionately appeal that irrespective of the number of times we have taught the same set of persons the same topic, please teach them again; so that the overall goal of teaching such subject will be achieved.
CHALLENGES
- Be committed to the teaching ministry always.
- Never get discouraged by the negative attitude of the learners.
- No matter what, teach the people again.
PRAYER POINT
- Father, thank you for the reminder of our teaching responsibilities, we ask you forgive our days of neglecting this responsibility. Grant us the grace to henceforth live up to expectations, in Jesus name. Amen.
