TEXT: ISAIAH 12:1-6
MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” Isaiah 12:3 NKJV
God’s promises are ever sure. In the framework of human salvation, spiritually and physically, He follows each part or step meticulously with passion because of His incomprehensible love for humanity, as He works out everything and directs it towards ensuring that the outcome of His workings is for our benefit. His tenderness and care for us began in the Garden of Eden where He created everything good for the benefit of man. Yet, in His Omniscience, knowing that man would wilfully contaminate everything and everywhere with sin, and bring evil and destruction on himself, He made the everlasting spiritual sacrifice with His only begotten Son before the foundation of the world. The Holy Bible calls the Lord Jesus, “… the Lamb that was slain [in sacrifice] from the foundation of the world” (Rev. 13:8 AMP).
That Lamb became the Saviour of the world in whom we have salvation (John 3:16). In Him, we have redemption (Eph. 1:7); and in Him we live, move, and exist (Acts 17:28). He was the Word of God in beginning of things that was transformed mysteriously into flesh (John 1:1-14) – “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (v 14 NKJV).
He is the fountain of all the goodness we need in life, and the well of salvation from which we would draw the spiritual water for our wellbeing on earth. Firstly, in Christ we would find deliverance, peace, good health, riches, prosperity, victory, security, protection, blessings, provision, companionship, guidance, wisdom, and many more. Secondly, in Him we would find and experience the fruits of the Spirit which include “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control” if we crucify “the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof” (Gal. 5:22-24 ASV). These would make life worth living; and make our existence meaningful. Without Him, we are undone.

Again, to “draw water from the wells of salvation” signifies searching the Bible and digging up God’s principles of righteousness and holy living, and living our life according to what they teach and represent. That is how we would participate in the blessings, joy, and rejoicing that is reserved for people who obey God and worship Him in spirit and truth. It is joy unspeakable; and joy in the Holy Ghost.
God has given us the assurance of His love and the comfort of His grace. They should encourage us to live for Him, and not for ourselves or the world. We owe ourselves the obligation to search the scriptures for the principles and apply them to our everyday life in order that we may “draw water from the wells of salvation”. Many benefits are treasured up for us in the “wells”. No one would dig them up for us, except by ourselves. We would gain much pleasure and satisfaction. Christ is our everlasting fountain, in whom God’s benefits are stored up for us. Let us go to Him and draw bountifully for our wellbeing. John 1:16 says, “For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favour upon favour and gift [heaped] upon gift” (AMP).
