ESOCS Devotional 28 May 2025 – The Tabernacle of God
MEMORY VERSE: “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Revelation 21:3
TEXT: REVELATION 21:1-13
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

The Tabernacle of God is His dwelling place. God desires to dwell among His creation in loving tenderness and grace. He cherished that relationship in the Garden of Eden. He loves man exceedingly. His sent His only begotten Son to come in the nature of man to live among us; and today, His Son lives in believers to the glory of the Father. This is a privilege we must not neglect.
When the tabernacle of God dwells among us, we will bask in His presence and gain so much – He will sanctify us; He will direct our life; He will lead us into all goodness; He will make His ways plain to us; His Spirit will be our guide through life; He will give us open doors and open heavens; He will straighten everything crooked thing in our lives; He will disarm our enemies and render them completely impotent; He will strengthen us in His work and give us the wisdom and good health to work for Him effectively in His Vineyard, for in His presence there is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore (Ps. 16:11).
The presence of God in our life brings unspeakable joy to our hearts. If He dwells in our congregation, there will be blessings of all kinds in no small measure. Therefore, let us plant among us those thing that will usher His divine presence into our midst, which are holiness, righteousness and true Christian piety. Let us devote our lives to Him with faithfulness, and with thanksgiving. Let us serve Him with undivided attention, commitment, unalloyed zeal and dedication.
He wants us to keep His commandments, cherish and practise them, for it is the only evidence we can show to the Father that we love His Son; and in turn, the Father will love us too and they two will come down to us and dwell with us (Jn. 14:21, 23). This is a rewarding business worthy of engagement. Let us embark on it with all our heart.
