MEMORY VERSE: “And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.” Luke 8:54
TEXT: LUKE 8:40-END
So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him. 41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.
But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”
When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
49 While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the [r]Teacher.”
50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” 51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. 52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.” 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.
54 But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.

Most times the situations of life targets to keep us bed ridden, disconnecting us from life, our world and destiny. Some come to forcefully terminate our existence and permanently keep us in a lying state contrary to the will of God. Fortunately, we gladly announce their disappointment as the Mighty Breasted one just arrived for our intervention.
The little maid born to Jairus, one of the rulers of the synagogue, had taken ill and eventually died in the process. Jesus’ address to the mourners on His arrival generated huge laughter among them but he was not deterred. Hear this, never give up your conviction even though every other person does not believe in you. They may mock you, laugh you to scorn and even disperse you, but you should hold tight and follow your vision, passion and conviction. It is such doggedness in your faith that will produce the unusual and desired miracle.
Jesus ignored them and went in with the parents of the damsel alongside His disciples to where she lay. Learn to ignore those who don’t believe in you – it is a success strategy. Jesus immediately held her by the hand and said “Maid, arise.” This touch and call brought her back to life instantly. What then could have run through the mind of Jesus, as He called her with such ease – “Arise?”
You have slept for too long: Maid, you have over slept; you are meant to be awake by this time. Sometimes, we are attacked in such a way that we are compelled to remain stagnant for a very long time without making any head way: “The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount” (Deut. 1:6). Despite the time, strength and efforts invested in the business, project, etc., there appears not to be any shift – you’re just at a standstill. People tag you to be sleeping, while others are working. But by the mercies of God today, there is a command from the Master asking you to arise from such slumber, in the name of Jesus. Whatever level you are meant to have passed before now, receive the rising Grace to move now, in Jesus name. Everything that has put our Women down for too long is broken today, in the name of Jesus.
You are too young to be sleeping now: “…for she was of the age of twelve years …” (Mark 5:42). Only old men may sleep (Joel 2:28; Is. 65:20). You have no business with sleep at this age; therefore, arise!. There are people that have been forced to early bed; some marriages have packed up too early; and some businesses crumbled too early; destinies shattered too early. Anyone planning to send you to an early grave, by the power of God they shall be disappointed, in the name of Jesus.
CHALLENGES
- Maintain a strong faith in God and deal with doubts.
PRAYER POINT
- Lord, let your resurrection power be activated in my life and let arise to greatness, in Jesus name.
