ESOCS Devotional 27 September 2023 – Time for Everything
MEMORY VERSE: “Whatever is has already been and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account”. Ecclesiastes 3:15 NIV
TEXT: ECCLESIASTES 3:1-15 (KJV)
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

All the works of God from the beginning of the world is known to him (Acts. 15:18). God knows the end from the beginning and in His wisdom, He apportioned time for everything.
The whole gospel program is based upon voluntary obedience to the word of God. This brings salvation and blessings, but if disobedience is rendered, eternal damnation will be the result.
2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness, instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.” Everything that God created came with a promised time of beginning and end, and must be managed well as the Lord will not want us to mismanage it.
But for everything God does shall be forever – It is true as far as the plan of God for mankind is concerned. But, regarding free and intelligent acts of individuals, he changes accordingly to their conformity or non-conformity to his eternal plan.
After a man is dead, judgment follows, which is for both the righteous and sinner. For the bad deed committed in the body during a life time as well as for the good thing: this is because for every set time, and for everything God made, He made for all – both righteous and sinners. God, on the last day, being the righteous judge, will give absolute justice (Rev. 20:11-15).
So, always bring your thought to the point of always knowing that whatsoever God doeth will be forever, your enemies or friends, brother or sister cannot put anything to it or change anything from it. If it is blessing time; no one will change it. Just stay put to the set time.
- Everything must be good in its time – stay connected to God, so as to understand the times.
- Father Lord, cause me to understand and be in time in everything you want to do.
