TEXT: JOEL 2:12-17
MEMORY VERSE: “Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead return to the Lord your God for He is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.” Joel 2:13
There are people who have said that they repented long ago but their character still remains the same. A genuine repentance comes from the heart; and it takes someone who has made a truthful resolve to repent. A genuine repentance does not come from the lips rather from the heart ; and a broken and a contrite heart, God does not despise (Psalm 51:17).
Do you know that a wise man takes his own decision but an ignorant man follows public opinion? So many people have not repented fully today because they are looking at either their parents, friends, siblings, kindred, etc.
The heart of the matter is the heart with which we repent. Let us not rend our clothes, showing the world our tears of grief, which is not genuine; but rend our heart because God looks at the heart and not the facial appearance (Matt. 6:17, 18; 1 Sam. 16:7).
