TEXT: 2 KINGS 18:1-12
MEMORY VERSE: “He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; So that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.” (2 Kings 18:5 KJV)
King Hezekiah of Judah live a worthy life of integrity compared to other kings of Judah. He maintained a good relationship with God. He set a record that other kings before or after him could not meet or surpass. It was a life that was lived in the fear of the Lord. He trusted in God, and revered Him greatly. He had a unique relationship with God, and different from others.
He proved his trust in God (2 Kings 18:4). He took away all that would serve as alternative to God. In doing this, he showed God that there is none except Him. When you take away all that you may fall back on, you are telling God that He is all that matters in your life. Your focus is not divided, and your desire does not waver. Such attitude would also commit God to prove Himself as God in all circumstances, and at all times. We can’t have substitutes for God, and expect Him to be committed to us.
He relied on God (2 Kings 18:5). His trust in God was absolute. Such is the character we should possess. We should make Him our only resort. Like Job, we should always say, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth” (Job 19:25 KJV).
The hallmark to go the extra mile in serving and worshiping God. All we need to do is to be confident, and not doubt but trust Him, and worship Him truly. It is a mark of the saints.
- Make it your character to trust God absolutely.
- Lord, remove unbelief from my life.
