TEXT: Revelation 20: 1-15
MEMORY VERSE: ‘’And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15
When our Lord Jesus came the first time, he came to save mankind from sin and eternal damnation. But when He will come again, He will come to judge the world. He will not be a Saviour then. He will not be for the propitiation of our sins. He will not go the way of the cross again. He will not come to die and rise again. He will come for one definite reason: to judge the world and reproof us of sin. Those who would be found unworthy to dine on the Lord’s Table would be cast into the lake of fire.
John saw that books were opened and everyone was judged according to what he or she had done (V 12). There are records in heaven of what we do. Nothing is hidden from the scrutiny of the eyes of God (Ps. 11:4). The books would expose and reveal what we did with the life that God gave us, whether they were good and righteous or bad and unholy. There shall not be any exception; the slightest thing we do would be recorded; even the faintest sound we make would resound with thunderous rancour. We shall answer for our deeds at that Question Time. The secret things we did shall come to light. The hidden things of our hearts would become common knowledge. The secret thoughts of our minds would stand out like the open glare of the sun. Truly, nothing shall be hidden.

Since this shall be the case, what are we supposed to do with our lives? We should spend our lifetime doing God’s will in humble obedience. We are in the last days. We should do our best to redeem our times and correct our past misdeeds (Eph. 5:16). There is evidence everywhere that the end of time has come: the wars and rumours of war; the pestilence, natural disasters, unbridled immorality, increase in crime and lawlessness, the advent of false prophets and fake ‘men of God’, persecution of true believers everywhere, and increase in knowledge in scientific and technological advancement across the world (Matt. 24:1-51). We do not need any further proof that the end time is here. Our focus, our longing, and our craving should be towards heaven. The trumpet would sound any moment. The scripture says: “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Heb. 12:1).
Let us therefore be ready for the second coming of our Lord Jesus; for judgement shall follow thereafter. It is only the righteous shall be saved.
