TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 32:1-12
MEMORY VERSE: “For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance” Deuteronomy 32:9 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
The Book of Deuteronomy 32 expresses God’s warning to the children of Israel and drawing their attention to His covenant with Jacob their father; how His will for them is of good, and is that of blessing and assurance of safety. But most times, these people doubted God to the point that they made Him seem powerless. This is the case of many believers today. There are many Christians who do not have total trust in God, even when they think and say they do.
God’s existence is beyond mere stories. You have to sit down and learn more about God Almighty through Christ Jesus. In Matthew 11:29, Christ gave us an invitation. He said, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (NKJV).
There is a need to sit and learn about God, as your ignorance about Him will keep you questioning His credibility or ability. This affected the children of Israel so much that they didn’t know who God is – they failed to take time and patience to learn about Him experientially.
Let us take heed that, questioning God’s credibility or ability is a serious sin that can cost you your salvation because you can’t receive what you do not believe – God is real, dear brethren. He is still doing good; all you need to do is to learn about Him – who He truly is, the works of His hand, His signs and manifestation of His word. Do this through the word of God, as the Word itself is the person of Jesus Christ (John 1:14). When you come to Jesus to learn, you would gain wisdom and you will be saved from doubting God.
- How often do you meditate on who God is? What are your convictions about Him, His powers, His love, mercy, grace, and many other attributes?
- Father, grant me the grace to learn about you and to have the conviction to believe in you, in Jesus name. Amen.
