TEXT: Revelations 18: 1-10
MEMORY VERSE: “And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4
God is passionate about us. The need for our wellbeing is very dear to His heart. He watches over us and continually takes measures that would enhance goodness in our lives; and put evil far away from us. David said, “He leads [us] in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake” (Ps. 23:3). When we walk in ways that make us stray away from Him He calls our attention to our mistakes. If we listen, we would return to His warm embrace. If we refuse to listen and continue on the path of sin, we would definitely walk ourselves into trouble, and possible destruction.
We owe ourselves the obligation to sensor the kind of people we associate with. We would not be doing ourselves any good if we keep associating with people whose lifestyle does not conform to the word of God and His ways. If we do, we would gradually drift away from God. Let us seek fellowship and communion with God’s people alone. We have a goal; and that is to be like our Lord Jesus. We should reject and abhor things that do not please God. We should stop any form of relationship that does not enhance a holy and righteous living in us. Let us filter the kind of friends we have; and the kind of acquaintances we make. Unless we are very strict about this, we would often make subtle mistakes that may not be in our best interests.

The psalmist says: “For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand” (Ps 95:7). God has said to us: ““Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues [judgement and punishment].” Let us listen to Him and do what He has counselled us. He takes the responsibility of doing a search for us. That shows how much He loves us! He says, “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. I will feed them in good pasture…I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down…I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgement” (Ezek 34:11-16).
A sweet Christian song says:
Come to the Saviour, Make no delay,
Here in His word He has shown us the way;
Here in our midst He’s standing today,
Tenderly saying, “Come.”
Think once again He’s with us today,
Heed now his blest command and obey;
Hear now His accents tenderly say,
“Will you, my children, come?”
Let us turn away from unwholesome friends and truly come back to the only Lord God our Saviour. He will take care of all our needs; and we would not lack any good thing.
