TEXT: ISAIAH 5:1-3
MEMORY VERSE: “What could have been done more to my vineyard that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?” Isaiah 5:4
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
Israel is the well beloved of the God of Abraham. God blessed Abraham and made him a blessing to all nations. In his love for Israel, God in His holiness, never failed to punish them when they sinned; but He will afterward redeem them. In the prophecy of Isaiah, He spoke of imminent judgment for Israel because, at that time in history, they failed in God’s expectation. Verses 1-2 puts it thus “… it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.”
One must have to take note of what God has made him to be and God’s expectation in life. What has God anointed you for? Do you understand your role as a father, mother, elder, prophet, preacher etc.? We have need to study and show proof of the anointing that we carry (vs. 3-4; 2 Timothy 4:2, 5)
We must realize that we all belong to God and He determines our fate in all situations. If anyone stubbornly refuses to adhere to God’s warning, it is one’s choice to face the wrath of God. To Israel, God decided by the words of prophet Isaiah to “…. Take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the walls thereof, and it shall be trodden down.”
Let us therefore turn to God in repentance and He will spare us.
- Do you carry out self-examination of your roles and actions?
- Father, please pardon my errors and direct my steps towards the path of life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
