TEXT: Isaiah 60: 1-22 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.” Isaiah 60:15 KJV
When we talk about Excellency, it is a form of address to people of high regard in high positions, e.g. the President, Governor, etc. In our text, God promises to make His children an “eternal excellency”, meaning that they will be exalted forever. Just like the presidents who enjoy so many benefits, so also the children of God have several benefits beyond human imagination. Here are some insights into God’s blessings:
- The sons of the strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee (Isaiah 60:10). Because you are a royal person in Christ, God has chosen the best to serve and minister to you.
- Thy gates shall be opened continually; they shall not be shut day or night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought (Isaiah 60:11). This shows the level of peace that will surround the children of God; there will be no danger of attack. The riches of the strangers will be at their disposal. They shall not be afraid because of God’s abundance upon them.
God will cause His glory to shine upon you. He will be your everlasting light and there will be no more mourning around you because the people of God shall be all righteous and they shall inherit the earth forever (Isaiah 60:20–21). What a privilege to be an eternal Excellency of God!
