ESOCS Devotional 24 March 2021
TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-31
MEMORY VERSE: “Now there are diversities of gifts but the same spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same lord. And there are diversities of operations but it is the same Good which worketh all in all.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 KJV
Leaders are not supposed to do all the work of the church, but are to effectively harness the talents of their team members. Good teams use every gift and enjoy both unity and diversity. Spiritual unity of the work force in God’s vineyard is not a matter of individual agreement on all issues. It is a unity of love and purpose, and it is maintained through living in the truth and by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
There are many departments and committees in the church. We have Finance Committee, Adoption Service Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Marriage Committee, Children’s Department, King David Association, Eternal Sisters Association, Women Association, Mount Zion Youth Association, Eternal Torch Bearers, Zion Daughters Association, Atupa Ti Olorun Tan, and the 12 Disciples. Despite that, some church leaders find it difficult to delegate functions in their provinces, districts and branches.
Team work promotes an atmosphere that fosters friendship, loyalty, co-operation, and support of one another. Individuals possess diverse talents, communication skills, strengths, and weaknesses. When a team member is working, the whole team will be motivated and will be working toward the same goal in harmony. The synergy of individuals is a powerful and strong instrument. Don’t be deceived by the idea that working alone brings glory. Working alone may help your ego; however, it will not necessarily make you a regular winner.
