TEXT: MATTHEW 11:20–30
MEMORY VERSE: “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
Jesus came into the world doing good, without discrimination. He healed the sick, raised the dead, turned water into wine, and did many other mighty works to glorify the name of the Father, that men may know that His mission was true and commissioned by the Father.
One thing that still surprises the world is how the Gentiles have accepted the gospel, and embraced Jesus Christ more than the Jews who call God, Father.
It is also clear that Jesus said it expressly that He did not come to destroy the law and the prophets but to fulfil them. Reason being that everything in the law must be fulfilled. (Matthew 5:17–48). The point of disconnect is in thinking that Jesus came to change the Law of Moses, as inscribed in the Ten Commandments. This was all wrong; He came as the Word Himself to unveil the hidden truth, and to save and redeem the world from the clutches of Satan, who is waxing strong in propagating falsehood and idolatry.
If the judgment of God on the Jews who will refuse to repent is incomparable to that of Sodom and Gomorrah or Tyre and Sidon, then, everyone should be ready to take responsibility for unrepentance. Jesus explained that the labour, heavy burden, and difficulties brought about by ungodliness would not be applicable to those who truly come to Him. In Matthew 11:28–30, He taught us that a relationship with Him is not a heavy burden, neither is it a tedious labour. He said, “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matt. 11:30 NKJV).
All that is required is to confess Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, believe in your heart that He is the Son of God; and you shall be saved.
- To take up the yoke of God and learn of him
- Pray that God will give us rest in our soul.
