God’s will is very important to Him. If you must relate with Him you must consider knowing His and doing it. Lord Jesus echoed this truth when He was told that His earthly relatives were looking to have His attention.
There is nothing that makes you a child of God if His will is not seen in your life. If you are actually His child, this means you have passed the first step of His will. This will is that all men be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). After that, the journey to His other wills begins. Looking at that, 1 Timothy 2:4 again it says, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to unto the knowledge of the truth.”
We see here that God’s will was summarized. When we are saved, it gives us the right to become members of God’s family. At that instance, we become the children of God through salvation, redemption and justification in Christ Jesus. In redemption He paid for our sin with His death on the cross at Calvary. The wages of sin is death. We sinned and could not pay for our sin and still live. In His love He had to pay by dying for us on the cross. If we accept that His death was for us and believe it, we will be redeemed from dying for our sins. At the same time, we will be given eternal life of God as members of the family of God. This will qualify us to be joint heir with our Lord Jesus Christ and be his brothers and sisters. In justification we become righteous before God because He took our sin and gave us this righteousness. This ushers us in into the way of life of His family which is Holiness and Righteousness. First, we stand before God as if we have not sinned (justified) then we begin to walk before God in righteousness. For us to do this effectively the second part of His will have to come into play.
To come unto the knowledge of the truth. God’s truth contains His will. His truth is the revelation of His will, by it we will live and function effectively for Him and His Kingdom. Any Christian that does not know His truth or His revealed will is handicapped. He is at a disadvantage when it comes to spiritual matters as relates to Satan’s kingdom of darkness and this world. That Christians will not be able to live a victorious life of righteousness. That believer will not be able to do much for God. That child of God will not look like his brother Jesus, who became Christ and lived on earth fully in the will of God. No wonder the Apostle Paul prayed this prayer for the Colossians in his letter to the Colossians 1:9 – 10 “For this cause in we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to desire that ye might be filled in the knowledge of his will all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might with walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;”
Beloved, we can see that for us to make the most of our relationship with God it is completely tied to His will. Do all in your power to get to know God’s will and His will for your life and do them. It will make your relationship with God with be more evident. His will is contained in His word, go for it at all times.

- How much do you value the word of God?
- Father, I pray for the grace to know your will and the grace to live by them.
