ESOCS Devotional 23 May 2025 – The Righteous Judgement of God
MEMORY VERSE: ““And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.” Revelation 16:7
TEXT: REVELATION 16:1-14
Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”
2 So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.
3 Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.
4 Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying:
“You are righteous, [c]O Lord,
The One who is and who was and who is to be,
Because You have judged these things.
6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
And You have given them blood to drink.
For it is their just due.”
7 And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”
8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.
10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain. 11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.
12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Psalm 145:17 says, “The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.” So, God is not like men that would allow corrupt practices in all their dealings. In everything or anything God does it is always good and right, even in judgement where God is the offended He still conducts it in righteousness. Psalm 9:4b says “….Thou satest in the throne judging right.” I believe this is why God does not allow us humans to carry out vengeance; it will always be tainted and miscarried by our emotions, sentiments and ego. He is not swayed by sentiments or emotions. He judges right.
Beloved, there is a time God will judge the world for sin, iniquity, wickedness and all forms of ungodliness. Psalm 9:8 says, “And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.” He has prepared His throne for judgement (Psalm 9:7).
Dear friend, having known that these things will be and time is fast approaching, what do you need to do? Understand that from the account of Revelation 16 and other scriptures there are basically two camps – those who belong to God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in genuine repentance and new birth, and those who don’t belong to God. The truth is this: those who don’t belong to God are under the rule of Satan and his cohorts – the beast and the false prophet. The beast rules for Satan through political, social and economic control while the false prophet rules through spiritual control by religion, Spiritism and false doctrines.
Satan has infiltrated the body of Christ. He is desperate to gain followership (Rev.16:13-14). Therefore, it is important to listen to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and obey all that He has commanded. This is the true story: that Jesus came into the world to save sinners from eternal damnation. He came that we may hear His voice, live by His word and then, become His friends and followers – CHRISTIANS! Let us not forget this truth. Those who truly belong to God will not be judged; for they are the redeemed of the Lord (Is. 62:12; 35:10). Therefore, let us turn to the Lord to be able to escape the righteous judgement of God.
