ESOCS Devotional 22 January 2022
TEXT: LUKE 1:36-80
MEMORY VERSE:
“And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her”Luke 1:38 KJV
It is true that God is God of the universe and there is no impossibility with Him, as Angel Gabriel informs us in Luke 1:37; but His possibilities in our lives can be limited by men. Psalm 115:16 declares that “The heavens belong to the Lord, but he has given the earth to all humanity.”
This already informs us that God cannot do anything on earth without the partnership of men, although He is the sovereign God and the owner of the earth and its fullness as Psalm 24 tells us. But God has so wired man to have Will, Intellect and Emotion; so, the Will of man allows him choose or make choice that will be best for him. God at all times has left man to make his choice.
Now, we see the angel of the Lord conversing with Mary with an information that seem impossible even to science of today that she will convince without knowing a man and without artificial insemination, which is the best science and medicine can do. Humanly speaking, I admit it is impossible, oh yes, impossible is the name for it. But I present to you a realm where nothing is impossible. The realm where you “agree with the agenda of heaven concerning your life.”
It takes the hand of God to perform a miracle and to do the impossible in your life but much more, it demands your permission and cooperation with the Holy Spirit and the vessel that God will be using.
Archbishop Benson Idahosa of blessed memory once said, “If your faith says yes, God cannot say no”(think of this). If anyone is bold enough to say Holy Spirit please leave my life, as painful as it sounds, the Holy Spirit will leave but I guarantee you that such person will wallow in endless pain. But blessed is the man who will say Holy Spirit you have my permission, just like Mary declared in verse 38; “Do unto me as it pleases you”. If you dare to make this prayer and allow God have access to your life, I will be glad to inform you that you have just unlocked the realms of endless possibilities.

- Holy Ghost, circumcise my tongue and heart for positive confession into reality, in the name of Jesus Christ.
