TEXT: JOB 28:12–28 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord is wisdom.” Job 28: 28a KJV
Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment. It is also the quality of being wise. Wisdom cannot be found easily and no one knows its place (Job 28:12). Wisdom has no price neither can it be obtained on the earth. Today’s text explains that it cannot be found in the sea, neither can it be bought with money because it is of great value (Job 28:13 –17). The wisdom of God cannot be exchanged for earthly things.
The only one who knows where and how to obtain wisdom is God (Job 28: 23). To obtain wisdom, you must have the fear of the Lord (Job 28:28; Prov. 9:10), and to have the fear of the Lord, you must have a relationship with God. Building a relationship with God entails one to be holy and perfect as the Lord (Prov. 11:5a; 1 Peter 1: 15).
To understand the value of wisdom, you must receive and hide the words of God in your heart and be ready to hear or listen to instructions, and apply your heart to understanding of the word of God. You must hunger after knowledge and seek it as if you are seeking for silver and gold (Prov. 2:1–4; 8:33; 9:9).
Some of the benefits of having the fear of the Lord include long life (Prov. 10:27), ability to depart from evil (Prov. 16:16b), abiding satisfied (Prov. 19:23), divine safety and quiet from fear of evil (Prov. 1:33), reigning as kings, and dwelling with riches and honour and righteousness (Prov. 8:18).
