ESOCS Devotional 21 March 2026 – Warnings of God’s Evangel Army
MEMORY VERSE: “Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.” Jeremiah 6:30 NLT
TEXT: JEREMIAH 6:22-30
Thus says the Lord:
“Behold, a people comes from the north country,
And a great nation will be raised from the farthest parts of the earth.
23 They will lay hold on bow and spear;
They are cruel and have no mercy;
Their voice roars like the sea;
And they ride on horses,
As men of war set in array against you, O daughter of Zion.”
24 We have heard the report of it;
Our hands grow feeble.
Anguish has taken hold of us,
Pain as of a woman in labor.
25 Do not go out into the field,
Nor walk by the way.
Because of the sword of the enemy,
Fear is on every side.
26 O daughter of my people,
Dress in sackcloth
And roll about in ashes!
Make mourning as for an only son, most bitter lamentation;
For the plunderer will suddenly come upon us.
27 “I have set you as an assayer and a fortress among My people,
That you may know and test their way.
28 They are all stubborn rebels, walking as slanderers.
They are bronze and iron,
They are all corrupters;
29 The bellows blow fiercely,
The lead is consumed by the fire;
The smelter refines in vain,
For the wicked are not drawn off.
30 People will call them rejected silver,
Because the Lord has rejected them.”

Before the Ministry of Jesus began in those days, John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, saying, “Repent ye: for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 3:1-2). In addition, following the temptations by the devil, Jesus Himself began to preach, and as well saying, “Repent for the Kingdom of heaven is a hand.” (Matthew 4:17). Moreover, before His ascension, He charged His disciples to go into all nations with this same message of the Kingdom (Matthew 28:19-20).
All these are geared towards ensuring that a sizeable percentage of the world’s population reconcile with God before the terrible great Day of Judgment comes. Unfortunately, most of humanity have remained adamant, even as the Day of the Lord is fast approaching with the voice of trumpet, and with His arch angels (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). This is equivalent in seriousness to the message of judgment and doom to sinful Judah in Jeremiah 6:19-30. Because of their rebellious lifestyle, God would permit a wicked nation from far, to destroy the land and its people. This will result in a time of famine, mass death, and eventual exile. At this time, God’s anger against His people had become so intense that He even instructed Jeremiah to stop interceding for them.
Child of God, let’s be reminded here that God’s eyes are too holy to behold evil, and cannot withstand the sight of people committing sin with impunity (Habakkuk 1:13). God will not leave sin unpunished. The Day of the Lord is coming in which we too will have to give account to Him of everything we have done. It’s time to heed the message of Christ’s evangel army. Let’s not be deceived: “Whatsoever a man sows, that he shall reap.” The time of judgment is at hand. Take heed.
Reflections
- Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. What’s your take?
Prayer
- Lord, give me the grace to live the life of the saints, in Jesus name.
