TEXT: JOB 27:1–23 KJV
MEMORY VERSE: “This is the portion of a wicked man with God and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.” Job 27:13 KJV
Often times we see the wicked men living long, becoming powerful, and established. Their children grow and become established. They have properties and in the eyes of man, these wicked men tend to prosper on earth; and it seems as if they have peace all around them (Job 21:7–13). As a result of these, most of them tend not to need God because they feel it is not profitable to them (Prov. 29:14–15).
But this text tells us about the portion or rather the reward of wickedness of man with God. First, if the children be multiplied, it is for the sword. This means the children of the wicked are doomed for destruction and they shall never be contented with their riches (Job 27: 14). Secondly, the just and innocent man will enjoy the wicked man’s riches in the end (Prov. 27:16–17). He will never have peace of mind, which the Lord Jesus gives but will constantly, face fears and terrors (Prov. 27: 19 – 21). In the end, he shall die a miserable death and men will rejoice (Prov. 21:17–18; 18:5–6; 27:22–23).
It is disheartening to note that despite all the warnings in the scripture to desist from wickedness, a lot of people still do and enjoy the practice of wickedness. This is coming as a stern warning to all those who want to be envious of the wicked man so that they will know what awaits them in the end; and perhaps help them make the right decision not to tread on the path of wickedness.
