ESOCS Devotional 20 May 2025 – Be Careful, The Devil is Running Out Of Time!
MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Revelation 12:12
TEXT: REVELATION 12:12-17
Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

Our text today points out that the devil knows that he has but a short time. This must be in connection to his self-appointed evil agenda against God, all He represents, all that belong to Him and all that are loyal to Him. However, the devil knows also that the pot has no power against the Potter; so, his target now is against all that go in the Name of the Lord God.
When the devil was cast out of the heaven, the heavens rejoiced. This is because the devil is no longer there to contend with those that dwell in them. This means his evil influence and that of his cohorts are no longer felt in that realm. But now, he is in another place, the earth; not just in earth quietly minding his own, but having a great wrath for his time is short.
The devil’s time is short because God is not through with him yet. God is not going to allow the devil to roam the earth forever. A time has been set aside to deal with him completely. Given this situation, our text said we should be careful. The devil knowing that a severe punishment awaits him is determined to deceive as many as he could and drag them into same condemnation reserved for him eternally. So, the days are becoming more and more evil.
Beloved, the passing days are becoming more and more immoral, dangerous and evil. Wickedness is on the increase nowadays, men are devising all forms of wickedness against fellow creatures of God. It is the devil that is behind the rise in these depravity in the society of mankind because he has a short time to keep man deceived against God. There are three basic areas of operations of the devil against man. (a) He seeks to keep man blindfolded from salvation in Christ Jesus. (b) He seeks to cause backsliding among the saved. (c) He seeks to influence mankind into disloyalty to God. Therefore, he frustrates anything that will bring mankind out of his grip. He uses all kinds of ways – subtly, violence, oppositions, material manipulation, vanity and glory seeking, religiosity, fashion and immoral lifestyles, etc.
Brethren, to be on the safe side is to be born again in Christ Jesus. Make sure you are in fellowship with the Holy Spirit via the word of God. Make sure you are in the truth of the Word. No dubious Bible interpretations to suit yourself. Pray always. Share the good news always.

- Don’t let what you see in this world entice you away from God and true Christ life.
PRAYER POINT
- Father, in the Name of our Lord Jesus, keep me safe from the hand of the devil in all evil.
