TEXT: AMOS 3:1-15
MEMORY VERSE: “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3
To agree to a course is to consent or assent to it. Agreement is a decision made out of one’s volition to pursue a course, especially with others. A lot of things are achievable on the basis of agreement of the parties involved. Disagreement on the contrary, has made it difficult for certain goals to be achieved. As recorded in I John 5:7-8, there are three that bear record in Heaven and on earth respectively; and these three agree in one with each other working in consonance with collective aims and objectives.
The Lord expresses His displeasure for man’s unwillingness to walk with Him. Indeed, fellowship cannot exist without friendship. The balance of friendship and fellowship makes things work. God is so merciful that He delights in fellowship with man but this can only be made realistic under the atmosphere of agreement of man. This is a clarion call to all believers and others alike to make peace with God for things to work smoothly.
In like manner, interpersonal relationship is critically essential for goal attainment. In a home with frequent disagreement and rancor between husband and wife; parents and children; children versus children, there is hardly any meaningful collective goal achievable in such home. Same principle applies in the Church. If members are always at loggerhead with the Church administrators, then division becomes inevitable, which is a clog in the wheel of progress. The Holy Ghost charges us to be at peace with God by aligning with His commandments for things to start working again. Interpersonal relationship should be devoid of acrimony. Let brotherly and godly love be sustained.
