ESOCS Devotional 2 June
TEXT: JOHN 2:16-25
MEMORY VERSE:“Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.” John 2:23 KJV
Faith is a major foundational element of Christianity “But as many that received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John1:12). Faith starts our walk with God, sustains the walk on earth and eventually ends it up with Him in eternity. Thus, whatever tampers with your faith affects your walk with God.
It is therefore important that we nurture and boost this faith at every given interval, so that we do not completely loose it. Let us examine some of these boosters;
(a) Miracles: “… many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did” (John 2:23).Seeing, they say, is believing. One of the greatest propeller of faith is what is shown and seen. “… Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou has believed…” (John 20:29). We must therefore trust God for the abundance of miracles in our services.
(b) Testimonies: “… come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him” (John 4:28-30). It took Elizabeth’s testimony shared by the Angel for Mary to align fully herself to God’s plan. We must therefore encourage testimony sharing to boost the faith of others in the church. (c) Sermon: The quick, powerful, and sharp nature of the word puts on it the capacity to break through the unbelieving heart and stir up a great faith (Heb. 4:12). The word is a strong faith builder; attention must therefore be paid to the preaching of the word if we must boost the faith of the members and those who encounter us.
(d) Prophecies and Prayers: When the mind of God is revealed through prophecies and His will is prayed down, faith is ignited, as Matthew 7:7 is clearly understood. We are duty bound to connect to heaven at all times to reveal them to the people and encourage them to pray with confidence.
(e) Knowledge of God: The strength of the faith is rooted in the depth of your knowledge of God. If you must believe in Him, then you must have known Him from beginning (Daniel 11:32).
BOTTOM LINE: Faith is a seed that is planted and made to grow; grow your faith by boosting it.
CHALLENGES: Faith grows, boost it today. All the faith boosters are powerful; never ignore anyone.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, thank you for planting the seed of faith in our lives, grant us the grace to boost our faith always, for the fulfilment of our expectations, in Jesus name. Amen.
