ESOCS Devotional 19 November 2023 – The Final Judgement
MEMORY VERSE: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” Revelation 20:15 KJV
TEXT: REVELATION 20:11-15 (KJV)
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The final judgment also known as the “Great White Throne Judgment” is the day of the Lord when He will harvest mankind and everyone will be rewarded according to his deed on earth.
What will happen on that day? At the judgment, the books will be opened. The book of life contains the names of those who have put their trust in Christ to save them. These books also contain the recorded deeds of everyone, good or evil. Everyone’s life will be reviewed and evaluated. No one is saved by works, but works are seen as clear evidence of one’s relationship with God.
Furthermore, death and hell are thrown into the lake of fire. With this, God’s judgment is finished. The lake of fire is the ultimate destination of everything wicked – Satan, the beast, the false prophet, the demons, death, and all those whose names are not recorded in the book of life because they did not place their faith in Jesus Christ.
What is the message here? Each of us must serve Christ in line with God’s standard and live each day knowing that the books will one day be opened. Also, if by faith we have not identified with Christ and confessing Him as Lord and personal savior, there is no hope, no second chance, and no other appeal.
