TEXT: OBADIAH 1-21
MEMORY VERSE: “Then saviours shall come to Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s” (Obadiah 21 NKJV).
This is the promise of the Lord. The children of God who are under the afflictions of the enemy, and whose lives are battered by conspiracies of people who wish them evil, shall experience resounding victory. Those who oppress God’s people shall receive a double portion of disgrace and shame; and they shall be brought very low by the wrath and anger of the Lord; the zeal of the Lord will do it, and without mercy; and no remedy.
Esau rejoiced at the calamity that befell Jacob; and treated Jacob his brother as the philistines did to them. Nevertheless, when God’s judgement came, Jerusalem and Mount Zion were delivered. Such is the heritage of God’s people.
Sometimes, when Christians are afflicted in their tempting hour, there seems to be no help in view. It is as if the heavens had been shut against them. During such times; the enemies rejoice and say, “… God has forsaken him; pursue and persecute and take him, for there is none to deliver him” (Ps. 71:11 AMP).
But we have an assurance of victory, for God is our Father. He will come from heaven to deliver His people. Psalm 2:4-5 says, “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure” (Ps. 2:4-5 NKJV).
If we are faithful and wait on the Lord, He will fight for us. Job 5:23 says, “For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee” (KJV). God will raise armies to join forces with us; for He will take over the battle, and we shall “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for [us]. For the Egyptians [enemies] whom [we] see today, [we] shall see again no more forever” (Ex. 14:13 NKJV).
- Remain faithful to the Lord in all circumstances.
- Lord, grant me the grace to remain faithful to you forever.
