ESOCS Devotional 19 April 2021

TEXT: EZEKIEL 37:1-14

MEMORY VERSE: “Again, he said unto me, prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.” Ezekiel 37:4 KJV

Dry bones in this context refer to every area of your life you may be experiencing famine and deadness or drought. Dried bones are lifeless; so, it can refer to dead situations in one’s life. It could be your job or business, your health or any area of your life. The word of God is coming to you today to bring hope and restoration to those areas.

Our topic says “Dry bones hear the word.” In this context, we mean the word of God. When the word of God is spoken to every situation, it heeds to the word; therefore, every dry bone in your life will also heed to the word of God and bow its knee to Jesus (Philippians 2:10). The spoken word of Jesus causes transformation and brings to life all things that are lifeless.

In our text today, we see the conversation between Ezekiel and Lord. All Ezekiel could see in the place where the Spirit of God took him to was dry bones. God asked him to prophesy to the dry bones that they may receive life. Ezekiel prophesied on dry bones as led and they began to locate each other even as flesh covered them up and they lived again. Every potential in you that has become dried – dead, shall rise again, in Jesus name.

We serve a God who is not new to the business of bringing dried bones to life. Little wonder, Lazarus who was dead and buried for 4 days (John 11:20–45) and that child in 2 Kings 4:32–35 were brought back to life. Likewise, the widow who had lost her husband (2 Kings 4:1–7) and the two sons were about to be taken from her. She had nothing but a pot of oil to pay her late husband’s debt. She received the word of God in her spirit and that pot of oil turned into drums of oil with which she sold and paid off all her debts, and she and her children lived happily. Her case was dryness in her finance and this is the case of so many Christians. Today, as you receive the word of God in your spirit, let all dryness in your finance begin to turn around into bountifulness, in the name of Jesus.

God said to Ezekiel, “I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of them” (Ezekiel 37: 12). God is ready to turn your situation around for good but He needs you to come to Him, accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, so He will give you the power to become His child. When you become a child of God, He will begin to reveal the secret things about your life and lead you in the path He wants you to go, so that you will not have to experience any dryness in your life anymore. His word says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness all other things shall be added to you.”
