TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 3:1-23
MEMORY VERSE: “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone” (Matthew 21:42 NKJV).
Every house is built on a foundation. The type of foundation depends largely on the type of building and the type of soil. A water-logged area requires rafting or mat-foundation, pile foundation, drilled staffs or caissons. If the wrong foundation is used in any building construction, it will definitively collapse someday.
In the same way, Christianity is built on a solid foundation, which is Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 3:11 says, “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)” AMP.
Christ is the foundation of life in eternity. Materials required to build on Christ Jesus are very important. Some builders will build with gold, others with silver, while some others will build with precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble.
The truth is that every house shall be tested by fire. The house to be built by each person is us, individually: each person should build himself to become the temple of God where the Spirit of God should dwell. The spiritual building materials required are the fruits of the spirit, which consist of longsuffering, love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, and such like.
Unfortunately, many people build with the wrong materials: materials of sin and iniquity, and carnality. Such houses would collapse someday and they would be pitiable losers. Everyone should build his house in Jesus. That is how they would have eternity with the Lord. There are no better grounds than Jesus. All other ground is sinking sand!
- Build your life on the right foundation with only materials that are acceptable to God.
- Father, grant us the grace to continue our life in you.
