TEXT: PROVERB 30:10-33
MEMORY VERSE: “The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer” (Proverb 30:25 KJV).
Our memory verse counsels us to learn from little creatures such as ants and imbibe wisdom. They organise themselves fittingly for their sustenance at all times. They are intelligent enough to accumulate food reserves in the summer against the winter period. They have a highly organised system of governance that ensures that everything is done in an orderly manner. There are no ripples or ruffles. They employ strict division of labour; each one knows its limits and does not go beyond its boundary. Proverbs 6:6 says, “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!” (NIV).
We are enjoined to make regular savings in our finances because just as it is natural for the rainy and sunny seasons to come, so it is natural for us to experience the bright side of life when we enjoy life in plenty, and the odd times when we face financial difficulties. Businesses do not boom all the time. We may lose jobs. Contracts may not come sometimes. Polices of government may bring down turn of the economy. There are other hazards that may afflict life and existence, also.
Again, we are counselled to apply diligence in the manner we conduct our spiritual life. Obedience to the word is planning for a better future. Conducting our life in a godly manner guarantees God’s favour and defence, and His abundant provision in the future. Applying His kingdom principles in all areas of our life enhances success, prosperity, riches, and wealth spiritually, financially, and health wise. More importantly, if we are careful to abandon the world and all it gives, and live our life in purity, we would save our soul in the bosom of the Lord Jesus against future judgement. Let us truly learn from the ants and be wise. We can do it!
- Ask God for wisdom. He is ready to give it to you abundantly.
- Lord, let the Holy Spirit guide me in all my undertakings
