TEXT: EXODUS 13:1-16
MEMORY VERSE: “And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and behold the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17 KJV).
God’s defence is around his people always. The young man did not know this, and was afraid. But Elisha knew, and understood these things. The contrast between the two was that Elisha was a prophet, and a true man of God. He was mature in spiritual things, and therefore, he could discern the move of God.
The young man was his servant, and was neither here nor there. He knew nothing about the operations in the Holy Spirit realm.
In the Church of God worldwide, these two classes of people exist: those that know their God and others who do not. Those who know their God do exploits. They are seasoned in the Christian warfare. They serve and worship God with a purposeful heart. They are led by the Holy Spirit, and therefore, they are sons and daughters of God; and have trust and confidence in Him.
The others are lukewarm and passive; not serious with God; and they are not committed to their Christian Faith or belief. They could best be described as church goers, and not profitable to God’s kingdom.
In our daily prayers, let us always ask God to grant us the wisdom to walk with Him, and to open our eyes of understanding. We need the capacity for deep spiritual insight and discernment in order to understand secret things of God and follow His ways appropriately.
- Crave earnestly for wisdom and understanding of God’s ways.
- LORD, I pray thee, open my eyes of understanding.
