TEXT: ISAIAH 66:1-2
MEMORY VERSE: “Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? And where is the place of my rest?” – Isaiah 66:1 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
I will make my life your dwelling place,
I will build your throne in my life.
Come Father, come Son, come Holy Spirit.
Come and take your place in my life.
This song perfectly catches the mind of God in our text, and further buttresses Paul’s letter to the Corinthians: “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Cor. 6:19-20 KJV).
Beloved, beyond the giant constructions and mighty edifices we are putting together across the globe, which is highly celebrated, God is in search of a real house that He can stay. He truly needs a place that He can find rest, and that is your life. Yes! God wants you to build Him a house in your life. He wants to dwell there. He wants to rest there. Your life is the most comfortable place for Him to dwell.
It therefore behooves on us to live correctly for God, so that at all times our body is pure and conducive for God to dwell in. We must flee from all that attacks the presence of God in our lives. Constantly defiling God’s temple puts you at the risk of losing His glorious presence. Amidst all that you are building, a house for God in your life today is most important.
- Keep your life clean, spiritually sanctified for God’s dwelling.
- Father, thank you for my life, help me to build a house and a resting place in my life for you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
