TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 1:17-31
MEMORY VERSE: “With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding” (Job 12:13).
Wisdom is an invaluable virtue so deep, immeasurable, priceless, and rare for a mortal man to understand. It is the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight. Wisdom is associated with attributes such as right judgment, compassion, experiential self- knowledge, self-transcendence, and virtues such as ethics and benevolence.
Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Job 28:28 says, “… Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil, is understanding.” Paul concludes that Christ is the wisdom of God.
Jesus did not only teach or expound His message; He was identical with His message. He did not just proclaim the truth; He is the truth. He did just show the way; He said, “I am the way.” He did not just open up doors; He said, “I am the door,” and “I am the good Shepherd” and “I am the resurrection and the life.” He did not only offer bread to nourish soul; He said He is the bread of life.
What becomes clear is that only Jesus reveals the true God of the true wisdom. Therefore, a person would have true wisdom only if he accepts Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour. Jesus Christ the Word of God will fill him with the Spirit of wisdom, which is the wisdom of God.
- Embrace and live with wisdom all through our life
- Father, give me the Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation of the knowledge of Him.
