TEXT: LUKE 6:12-26
MEMORY VERSE: “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place ”
As a major means of communicating with God, prayer has remained a veritable tool in the handling of human affairs. Great exploits have been made and major grounds opened at the frequency of prayer. For if there is man to pray, then there is a God to answer. Our Lord Jesus Christ in our text exemplified prayer in his journey to the mountain, and remained through the night. He practically lived a prayer life.
Interestingly, as part of the legacies of the founder of the ESOCS Church, Saint Moses Orimolade Tunolase, he maintained a strong prayer life. He was a prayer person, founded the church on love, prayers, and preaching of the gospel. He began the movement as a Praying Band; and till date, each successive leader is called a ‘Praying Father’.
This therefore, emphasizes the need for all believers to maintain a strong prayer life. We must give time and attention to prayers. This is because to be prayerless is to be powerless. The Lord Jesus Christ, on the strength of prayers, had so many manifestations: the selection of the fathers of faith that carried the gospel to the world after his ascension; the healing of diverse sicknesses and diseases. Then the teaching of the word with power for conviction and conversion.
Beloved, if we must carry out great exploits in our generation, we must maintain a strong prayer life. The charge is, “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thess. 5:17). With prayers, you will surely prevail in all areas of life.
- Praise, faith, fasting, and holiness will boost your prayer life.
- Thank you Lord for the admonition to always pray. I receive the grace to constantly engage myself in prayers in Jesus Name. Amen.
