TEXT: EXODUS 15:1-13
MEMORY VERSE: “The Lord is my strength and song, and He is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my Father’s God, and I will exalt him.” Exodus 15:2 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
Amongst other acts, the Lord perfected the Exodus events by the working of miracles. This second book of the Old Testament contains mighty signs and wonders demonstrated by God. These include the ten plagues, crossing the Red Sea, the pillar of cloud, the drowning of Egyptians, turning of Marah water to potable water, daily manna from heaven, to mention but some. In all, it is clear that God demonstrated all these signs in order for them to praise, serve andworship Him.
In response to these mighty acts of God, Moses and the people praised Him severally in songs. According to them, the Lord had triumphed gloriously. With His mighty arms, He threw the horses and the riders into the sea (vs. 1). They described the Lord as their strength, who had become their salvation. They even vowed to prepare Him a habitation, because of His mighty deeds (vs.2). In verse 3, they described the Lord as a Man of war, whose mighty powersdrowned Pharaoh’s chariots and his captains in the Red Sea. Continuing the showers of praise on Him who lives forever, they declared that the right hand of the Lord had become glorious in power, because He had dashed in pieces the enemy. The enemy boasted with his drawn sword. But the Lord’s mighty wind did cast them into the sea, and they sank as lead in the mighty waters. Who is like unto the Almighty God? Of course, there is none.
Child of God, even in these days, the Lord does more mighty works in our lives. How much have you appreciated Him? Or do you only seat back to count the numerous things you think He has not done. It’s high time we learn how to appreciate His great works in our lives. He remains our strength and song. He is our deliverer and our salvation. Have you forgotten in a hurry scriptures like John 3:16, John 1:12, John 10:10, etc. O come, let us worship and adore Him,who reigns forever.
- Cast your mind back several years into the past. How many of those great and small miracles have you not given Him thanks for. Pray for His mercies, and begin to thank Him in arrears.
- Lord, forgive my ingratitude, and continue to defend my course. I will appreciate Your Majesty, forever.
