TEXT: ISAIAH 64: 6-12
MEMORY VERSE:
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind have taken us away.”Isaiah 64:6 KJV
It is most essential in the prayer life of every Christian to stir himself up to pray and lay hold of God; the person who does this will be blessed of the Lord. No man rises to God without effort; and if one fails in this, he sinks into further sin and spiritual deadness, which will take him to the lowest hell.
Like the biblical Israel in our passage today, it is always “the only way out” to confess the reason for any desperate condition one finds himself. Own up as to exactly what it is, “our iniquities”. Every sinner is a spiritual leper before God. One must recognize that our self-righteousness is no more than “filthy rags”. It is very difficult for men, and especially religious men, to admit to such. Hence, not many religious men are saved. God cannot be blamed for the consequences of sin.
Only God can change the shape of the clay; thereby, molding the vessel into the shape and design that is desired; thereby, mending the flaws and weaknesses. This is the great Salvation Message of Christianity. Only God can change the shape of the clay (you), thereby molding the vessel (you) into the shape and design that is desired, thereby mending the flaws and weaknesses.
No matter how far one has gone in sin, sincere confession and appeal can make God begin all over again, like the potter with the clay. God cannot abide in sin in the lives of His own people any more than He can in the wicked.
If one would truly confess and repent of his/her sins, refusing to be denied, and if he would appropriate every benefit of the promises and covenants of God, which have been freely and abundantly given to all men, then such a one would experience answers to prayer of confession of sin.
- Be true to yourself. Carry out a thorough examination of your lifestyle and identify the areas of sin to be dealt with.
- O Lord, the Creator of life, forgive me and remold me into a useful vessel.
