TEXT: JOHN 14:1-14
MEMORY VERSE: “Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me.” John 14:1
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
The beginning point of those that expect eternal life in Christ Jesus is to agree with all that the Bible says about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. It is through our total reliance in His words and power that we can be righteous (John 14:1; Romans 10:9, 10; John 3:16.).
This is the strength of our life on earth. With our belief in God, we can subdue and prevail over all challenges and troubles. Thus, we are not to be troubled by both physical and spiritual battles against us. Our God is able and Jesus has conquered the world and has given us victory.
We are to follow the path of truth in order to receive the life that is in Christ. The reign of falsehood and perversion in our society today is only but a testimony that majority of our population are not truly converted to Christ. We have got to show that we are not part of them (vs. 5-10).
Those who single themselves out as true followers of Christ are sure to have two benefits: one is that we have a certain portion in the kingdom of God and it is forever (vs. 2-4). The second is that while yet on earth, we receive the power that is in Christ Jesus. That same power that enabled Him to do miracles and heal the sick. The power that enabled Him prosper on earth and live till He accomplished His mission on earth will be our portion. This promise is no doubt made manifest in our congregation today. We are witnesses of men and women among us who have done great miracles and excelled greatly in the manner of the Lord’s earthly ministry (John 14:11-14)..
Let us therefore look up, and trust and obey the Lord at all times.
- Do you manifest the power of God in your life as a Christians?
- Lord, I pray for increase in the power of your Grace upon me, in Jesus Name. Amen.
