TEXT: ACTS 2: 14-36
MEMORY VERSE: “And it will come to pass that whoever will call on the Name of the Lord will be saved.” Acts 2:21 IKJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
Following the Pentecost experience, there was mysterious display of boldness and character change of the apostles. Some people among the multitude were marveled and expressed amazement as to what they witnessed. However, there were those who would not accept the testimony of this miraculous event. They mocked at the mystery of the event (vs. 13)
In the midst of this conflict of opinions, Peter stood up to address the audience concerning this high point of events in the Messianic Mission of Christ on earth. Under the Divine influence of the Holy Spirit, he spoke boldly concerning the death, resurrection and the Kingdom Reign of the Jesus upon the throne of His Father (Matthew 19:28, Revelation 3:21). Thus, Peter went on to affirm that the prophecy of Joel 2:28-32 had been fulfilled by the miraculous outpouring of the Spirit. In other words, Peter asserted that the miraculous event of Acts 2: 1-14 was the fulfillment of Joel 2:28-32. Peter went ahead to insist that the fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel 2, as witnessed, was to usher in the beginning of the Kingdom of Christ.
In this Kingdom reign, which would be made manifest in the last days, the following shall be witnessed:
- God would pour out His Spirit on all classes of people (Vs. 17)
- Sons and daughters shall prophesy; they shall miraculously proclaim the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ (vs. 18)
- Both young and old shall command the power of the supernatural
- Some others shall receive the blessings of the miraculous power through the laying of hands of God’s vessels (Acts 8:18, Romans 1:11)
- There shall be signs and wonders everywhere among God’s elects (vs. 19)
- Whoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21)
Child of God, time is running out. Don’t sit on the fence anymore. Ensure you key into these great events of the last days. The Kingdom reign of our Lord Jesus Christ is here.
CHALLENGES: Many of the people who witnessed the Pentecost event were amazed, and doubted. Are you still in doubt?
PRAYER POINTS: Holy Spirit Divine, may I continually be a partaker of the great outpouring of the Spirit in these last days.
