TEXT: MATTHEW 9:27-38
MEMORY VERSE: “Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV).
Truly, there is much to be harvested in the vast world. But the number of ready workers in the Lord’s vineyard across the world keeps diminishing every day. True soldiers of the cross like the Apostles and disciples of Christ are scarce to find in today’s world. There are hardly any true worshipers anymore. The world is largely drifting towards an eclipse; and those who should rescue her are actually pushing her towards the edge of the cliff for a disastrous fall.
Our Lord saw this situation many centuries ago. For those who are conscious of the end time, they have cause to worry. If we do not take the firm decision to stand in the gap and work or actually occupy until our Lord Jesus comes again, many evils may befall the world, or rather, humanity.
The Lord is looking for volunteers who would step into the field and do the work of garnering souls for the kingdom. Time is short; and the kingdom of darkness is waxing stronger every day. They have marshalled out strategies for overwhelming the world. As Christians, we should not be docile. We should rise up to the occasion and take our place on the battle field.
Our Lord saw the multitude that came to Him and declared that there was going to be a bountiful harvest. Can He say so concerning us today? Looking at us from heaven, would His heart be filled with compassion for us or anger? How do we conduct our lifestyle? Have we been willing to overcome sin or have we willingly allowed sin to have dominion over us? When He comes again, would we be among those that would be harvested? If we fail God, we would be losers of all times. God forbid!
- What would you do to be enlisted among the labourers for the harvest?
- Lord, grant me the Spirit and grace to work for you always.
