ESOCS Devotional 14 April 2026 – Faithful God, Perfect Plans
MEMORY VERSE: “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” Isaiah 25:1 NIV
TEXT: ISAIAH 25:1-9
O Lord, You are my God.
I will exalt You,
I will praise Your name,
For You have done wonderful things;
Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
2 For You have made a city a ruin,
A fortified city a ruin,
A palace of foreigners to be a city no more;
It will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore the strong people will glorify You;
The city of the terrible nations will fear You.
4 For You have been a strength to the poor,
A strength to the needy in his distress,
A refuge from the storm,
A shade from the heat;
For the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
5 You will reduce the noise of aliens,
As heat in a dry place;
As heat in the shadow of a cloud,
The song of the terrible ones will be diminished.
6 And in this mountain
The Lord of hosts will make for all people
A feast of choice pieces,
A feast of wines on the lees,
Of fat things full of marrow,
Of well-refined wines on the lees.
7 And He will destroy on this mountain
The surface of the covering cast over all people,
And the veil that is spread over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death forever,
And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;
The rebuke of His people
He will take away from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken.
9 And it will be said in that day:
“Behold, this is our God;
We have waited for Him, and He will save us.
This is the Lord;
We have waited for Him;
We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”

Isaiah’s declaration in this verse is both a song of worship and a testimony of trust. He proclaims that God is worthy of praise, not only for what He has done, but for the faithfulness with which He fulfils His plans. The “wonderful things” God has accomplished were not random or last minute decisions; they were planned long ago, and they came to pass in His perfect timing.
This is incredibly reassuring. We often face situations that seem chaotic, delayed, or uncertain. But Isaiah reminds us that God is not improvising; He is unfolding a divine plan that was set in motion before time began. Even when we don’t see the full picture, we can trust the heart of a faithful God who never forgets His promises.
God’s plans may not always align with our expectations, but they are always good, wise, and purposeful. He is never late, never mistaken, and never absent. Our responsibility is not to understand everything, but to trust Him through everything, praising Him for both the seen and unseen workings of His hand.
Reflections
- How have I seen God’s faithfulness demonstrated in my past?
- Are there areas in my life where I struggle to trust God’s plan? Why?
- What does it mean to praise God even before seeing the outcome of His plan?
- How can I better align my expectations with God’s eternal perspective?
Action Step
Write down one situation where you’re waiting on God’s plan to unfold. Offer it to Him in prayer; then, spend five minutes declaring His faithfulness through praise, thanking Him in advance for what He is going to do.
Prayer
- Faithful Father, you are my God, and I praise you for your perfect plans.
- Forgive me when I doubt or grow impatient. Help me to rest in your timing and trust that what you have planned is always best.
- Teach me to worship you not just for what you’ve done, but for who you are.
- Strengthen my faith in the waiting, and remind me daily that you are always working for my good, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
