TEXT: I PETER 4:1-6
MEMORY VERSE: “That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lust of men but to the will of God” 1 Peter 4:2
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
We all live in the world. Both Christians and unbelievers wear the same clothes, eat the same kind of food, and enjoy the same amenities. We are all subject to the same government and relate with same environment and nature. What then marks the difference between the believers and the unbelievers?
The believers upon being born again receive spiritual empowerment to become the sons and daughters of God (John 1:12), and to know the will and ways of God. They are by the Spirit able to live their lives in accordance with the word of God. The unbeliever does not know the will of God; even when he reads it or hears of it, it does not make sense to him, and he understands no reason to abide by it. Thus, the unbelievers live in sin but the believers live by the will of God (1 Peter 4:1-4; Romans 6:2).
The hallmark of it all is that men shall give account of their lives on earth. Unto Christ Jesus has God given the mandate to judge all men from the beginning of life on earth till the end of it (vs. 5-6)
It therefore means that men should hearken unto the scripture and what it teaches; hear the word of God and believe it. You have got to escape the verdict against guilt, and the sentence to hell fire.
- If the rapture bell rings today, where do you think you will spend eternity?
- Lord, I desire that you protect my salvation and be my guide to the end of life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
