ESOCS Devotional 13 March 2024 – Signs of the End Time
MEMORY VERSE: “Now learn a parable of the fig tree, when its branch is tender and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So, likewise when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” Matthew 24:32-33
TEXT: MATTHEW 24:29-34
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Much of the revelation in the Olivet discourse centered around three questions by the disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. It says, when shall these things be? What shall be the sign of thy coming? And what shall be the sign of the end of the world?
To those three questions but not necessarily in the order in which they were asked, Jesus revealed the following signs: there shall arise False Christs, wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes in divers places, persecution, betrayals, false prophets rising with signs and wonders, iniquity abounding, love of many for Christ waxing cold, gospel preached in all nations of the world , great tribulation etc.
Fast forward to our memory verse (32-33). Just as by the shedding of its leaves by the Fig tree, men can tell that summer is at hand, so when you see the signs or events mentioned above begin to occur, then we know that the end of the world is near, the day of judgment is near, the day of the Lord is close, very close. If you wait till the visible sign of the Son of man appears in the heavens, or till the harvesting angels trumpet sound before getting ready for rapture, it will be already too late.
If there are any of the signs spoken of by the Lord that has not taken place or that has not been completed, it might only be preaching the gospel in all nations, and the great tribulation. It will be safe, therefore, to say that over ninety percent of the events predicted to precede that great day have taken or are taking place. With such knowledge at our disposal, we do well to apply our hearts to wisdom and live the rest of our days in readiness, watching and waiting for the Lord’s coming and our rapture.
It is very important that we keep ourselves in a rupturable state of grace from this minute on. That none offends you, as much as to make your love for Christ wax cold. That you owe no man nothing. That your duty post in kingdom service is not left unmanned anytime. Dig deeper daily into the word of God and be zealously active in all spiritual things. As the bride prepares herself for the bridegroom, so ensure that you are prepared for His coming. It is certain, and it is soon.
- The Lord is at hand. How prepared are you for rapture? Remember that only true believers shall be raptured.
- Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that your coming is at hand. I pray thee to cleanse and make me ready for you.
