ESOCS Devotional 13 February 2026 – God’s Witnesses
MEMORY VERSE: “I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.” Isaiah 43:12 KJV
TEXT: ISAIAH 43:1-13
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I gave Egypt for your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
4 Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored,
And I have loved you;
Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.
5 Fear not, for I am with you;
I will bring your descendants from the east,
And gather you from the west;
6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’
And to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’
Bring My sons from afar,
And My daughters from the ends of the earth—
7 Everyone who is called by My name,
Whom I have created for My glory;
I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”
8 Bring out the blind people who have eyes,
And the deaf who have ears.
9 Let all the nations be gathered together,
And let the people be assembled.
Who among them can declare this,
And show us former things?
Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified;
Or let them hear and say, “It is truth.”
10 “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord,
“And My servant whom I have chosen,
That you may know and believe Me,
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God formed,
Nor shall there be after Me.
11 I, even I, am the Lord,
And besides Me there is no savior.
12 I have declared and saved,
I have proclaimed,
And there was no foreign god among you;
Therefore you are My witnesses,”
Says the Lord, “that I am God.
13 Indeed before the day was, I am He;
And there is no one who can deliver out of My hand;
I work, and who will reverse it?”

This scripture is a declaration of God’s exclusive divinity and authority. Besides Him, there’s no other God and there is no other Saviour. This demonstrates God’s absolute power and sovereignty. He declares that when He works, no one can reverse and or hinder it; and no one can do what He does. The scripture further shows God’s direct involvement in saving His people, and demonstrating His unlimited power. He reaffirms that He did the work and not by any strange or foreign god.
The role of believers in what God has done and is doing is to acknowledge that God alone is the source of salvation and truth, recognize and worship Him as the one true God, rejecting all forms of idolatry. Trust in God’s plans and proclamations, knowing that He is faithful to fulfill His promises, reflect on how God has been faithful in our life and become His witnesses to the world. This means we are to testify to His power and truthfulness. Also, we are to be witnesses to the finished redemptive work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary; to the outermost parts of the world and live in a way that reflects God’s character and His work in our life, so that others may see and know that He is God.
The better we know God as Christians, the more natural it will be and feel for us to take the witness stand and testify to what we know about Him. If we find speaking up about our faith difficult, perhaps we need to check on what our relationship with God is like. Being a witness for God begins with knowing God. Our personal experiences of His salvation and faithfulness, even through trials, serve as powerful testimony.
As Christians, our faith will deepen as we engage more fully in what it is we believe and why. We will go deeper in the scriptures, deeper into prayer, but also deeper into the disciplines of theology, ethics, history, philosophy, logic, and more. As we prepare to be His witnesses, we will be better prepared to be His followers. Our faith isn’t meant to be internalized only. We should actively share our convictions and the truth of God’s nature and power with others, reflecting the vitality of our faith and fostering hope.
Reflections
- Are you ready to take the witness stand for Jesus?

- Oh Lord, make me a living witness to the wonders of your power.
