TEXT: JEREMIAH 1:1-14
MEMORY VERSE: “Before I formed you in the womb, I chose you, before you were born, I set you apart, I appointed you a prophet to the nation.” Jeremiah 1:5 NIV.
Jeremiah’s call to become a prophet to the nations came early in his life and he was scared. The young man was asked to say whatsoever the Lord said to him to the people without fear. He failed to see that God’s call and His empowerment always match.
When God calls you to do something, He always provides the empowerment to fulfill the calling. So, whoever God calls for any service should show no resistance but follow Him closely and work according to His dictates. The spiritual benefits are enormous.
In the case of Jeremiah, God set him over nations and kingdoms to root out, pull down, destroy and throw down all things that required such actions. He was also commissioned to build and plant where necessary.
But if He hasn’t called you, don’t conjure up some self-appointment. If He does not send you, you will not succeed.
God’s call, whether from birth or otherwise, eventually gets confirmed when God endorses a person’s vocation. There is usually a persistent urge for action. The person feels pushed consistently, and would want to do nothing else. By the time the Lord marks you out for His service, you will find out how well it pays to stand out among others in a good way.
