TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:1-9
MEMORY VERSE: “Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.” Ephesians 6:8 KJV
The Bible says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (Ps. 24:1). We all belong to God and are answerable to Him, being the owner of the whole world. He alone chooses how and where to place you in the world. You owe Him the duty to perform well wherever and however you find yourself (Ps. 75:7). In our text, Apostle Paul highlighted some binding duties of children, parents, slaves, and masters only. But his advice should serve as a guide to us in whatever position we find ourselves in life: “Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive from the Lord, whether he be bond or free” (V. 8). Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might”. This can be married with Proverbs 3:27 which says, “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it”.
Not performing to God’s expectations wherever you find yourself amounts to betrayal of trust. God must have trusted you to perform to His expectation before placing you where you are now. He who has placed us wherever we find ourselves now also shall bring every work into judgment on the last day (Eccl. 12: 13-14). You are duty-bound to do what God wants you to do anytime and anywhere.
